Industrial Edge Platform

Edge connectivity for industrial HVAC systems — from PLC to dashboard.

Summary

Industrial equipment speaks PLC protocols; operations teams need live web dashboards. For Trane, I worked on the edge platform connecting the two — Ignition Edge gateways, OPC UA connectivity, CODESYS-programmed controllers, and React applications on the connectivity layer.

The problem

Industrial HVAC equipment exposes its state through PLCs and industrial protocols, isolated from the web tooling operations teams actually use. Bridging that gap means speaking OPC UA reliably at the edge, near the machines, and surfacing it in applications people can act on.

What I did

  • Built and maintained Ignition Edge gateway deployments at the industrial edge.

  • Implemented OPC UA connectivity between controllers and the platform.

  • Worked with CODESYS for PLC-side programming.

  • Built React/Vite connectivity applications on top of the edge stack.

Client name cleared for public use; employer described generically pending clearance. Topologies are described abstractly.
